Don't worry. Home2Phone uses the mobile network, the same way as Home2Mobile, with your landline number on a SIM for inbound and outbound calls.

Quick answer

Home2Phone works like Home2Mobile, but we supply the equipment: a Geemarc GSM box (landline handset plugs in) or a GSM handset with the SIM inside. We only support equipment and handsets sold by us as part of your package. Care alarms are not supported.

More detail

Home2Phone and Home2Mobile work the same way, with your landline number on a SIM using the mobile network. Callers dial your usual home number and you call out showing that number. The difference is equipment only.

With Home2Phone, we supply the equipment with the SIM already inside: either a Geemarc GSM box or a GSM cordless handset.

If you have the Geemarc box, a standard landline handset plugs into the phone socket. We only support landline handsets sold by Simple Telecoms as part of your package. We do not support other handsets on the box.

If you have a GSM cordless handset, the SIM is in the handset we supplied. We only support GSM handsets sold by Simple Telecoms as part of your package.

There is no broadband requirement and no physical phone line to your door. Coverage and call quality depend on mobile signal where you live, the same as Home2Mobile.

Simple Telecoms offers Home2Phone when a wired digital line is not available at your address.

Care alarms are not supported on Home2Phone. If you rely on a pendant alarm, contact us about a digital line path or ask your alarm company about an upgrade.

Full Geemarc manufacturer guide (PDF): Geemarc Home2Phone user guide. The power-on steps below explain how to tell when the Geemarc box is on.

If you have the Geemarc box (Wi-Fi and 4G lights)

  1. Find the small rounded power button sticking out on the left side of the Geemarc box.

You should feel the button on the left edge of the box.

  2. Press and hold that button until the Wi-Fi light and/or 4G light turns on, then let go.

You should see the Wi-Fi or 4G light come on while you are holding the button.

  3. Wait without pressing again if all lights go off and then come back on. This is normal.

The lights should settle within a few minutes.

  4. Do not rely on the power light alone. It can flash while the internal battery charges, whether the box is on or off.

You know the box is on only when the Wi-Fi light and/or 4G light is lit.

  5. Plug a landline handset we supplied into the phone socket on the Geemarc box once those lights are on.

Your phone cable should run from the box to the handset we supplied, not to a wall socket.

  6. Keep the Geemarc box where mobile signal is strongest, often near a window.

  7. Connect the antenna if your model has a separate one.

  8. If you have a GSM handset from us instead of a box, switch it on and check signal bars. See the GSM handset section in your welcome pack.

  9. Moving house is simpler than Physical line; See Moving with Hybrid

  10. Power cuts stop the Geemarc box when mains fails. Keep a charged mobile for 999. See Emergency calls during a power cut

  11. If call quality is poor, move for better signal and restart. Same checks as Home2Mobile. See Crackling or noise on the line

Common mistakes

  • Expecting it to work with no mobile signal indoors.
  • Plugging a handset we did not supply into the Geemarc box. We only support handsets sold as part of your package.
  • Thinking the Geemarc box is off because the power light is flashing. It can flash while charging even when the box is on.
  • Unplugging the Geemarc box and wondering why the phone died.
  • Confusing the Geemarc Home2Phone box with a broadband router you must set up yourself.
  • Expecting us to fix poor mobile coverage remotely when the hosted service is working normally.

Things to know

Frequently asked questions

Need internet?

No broadband needed for Home2Phone.

Same number as before?

Usually yes when porting. See Keeping your phone number

How is this different from Home2Mobile?

Same SIM service. Home2Phone includes equipment we supply. Home2Mobile is SIM-only. You use your own mobile phone.

Can I use my own phone on the Geemarc box?

No. We only support landline handsets sold by Simple Telecoms as part of your Home2Phone package.

How do I know the Geemarc box is on?

Look for the Wi-Fi light and/or 4G light lit. The power light flashing does not tell you if it is on or off.

How do I turn the Geemarc box on?

Press and hold the small button on the left side until the Wi-Fi or 4G light turns on, then let go. Wait if all lights go off and come back on.

I only have a GSM handset, not a box?

Some Home2Phone customers use a GSM handset we supplied. Switch it on and check signal bars. This is different from Home2Mobile, where you put the SIM in your own mobile phone.

Weak signal or poor call quality?

Same as Home2Mobile, move for better signal and restart. See Crackling or noise on the line for Home2Phone and Home2Mobile checks.

Can I use a care alarm?

No. Home2Phone does not support care alarms.
