Don't worry about restarting your box. A safe power restart fixes many phone and internet issues without losing your number.

Place every handset on hook before restarting.

Switch off or unplug router power at the wall only. Leave phone and internet cables connected.

Wait 30 full seconds.

If you use cordless phones, remove power from each base station for 30 seconds and reconnect.

Switch power back on and wait at least three minutes for the broadband light to turn green.

Make a short test call.

If faults continue after a safe restart, report a fault online and say you already restarted the equipment.
