Connect your phone to Phone1 on the telephone adapter when you use your own broadband. Y
Don't worry. With your own broadband, most phone problems are adapter cables, internet outages, or a router setting called SIP ALG.
Quick answer
Your phone connects to Phone1 on the telephone adapter, not a wall socket.
More detail
Your phone connects to Phone1 on the telephone adapter, not a wall socket.
You use your own broadband with a telephone adapter from Simple Telecoms. Your phone plugs into Phone1 on the adapter. We do not supply or support your internet router.
Steps for your own broadband
Confirm your home broadband is working before you start.
Plug the adapter into mains and connect a network cable from the adapter to a LAN port on your router.
Wait until the power light is steady green.
Plug the handset adapter into Phone1, then plug your home phone into the other end.
Make a short outgoing test call and ask someone to call you back.
Turn off SIP ALG in your router. See Incoming calls not ringing (your own broadband)
What success looks like
Your home broadband is online, adapter lights are ready, and you can make and receive calls on your home number.
Common mistakes
- Plugging the phone into a wall socket instead of Phone1 on the adapter.
- Expecting Simple Telecoms to fix your broadband when only the phone service is with us.
- Leaving SIP ALG switched on in the broadband router.
Things to know
- See Digital home phone with your own broadband for full setup.
