Fix silence or no calls when you use our telephone adapter with your own broadband. S
Don't worry. With your own broadband, most phone problems are adapter cables, internet outages, or a router setting called SIP ALG.
Quick answer
Silence on Phone1 often means the adapter lost internet or power, not a traditional dial tone fault.
More detail
Silence on Phone1 often means the adapter lost internet or power, not a traditional dial tone fault.
You use your own broadband with a telephone adapter from Simple Telecoms. Your phone plugs into Phone1 on the adapter. We do not supply or support your internet router.
Steps for your own broadband
Check the adapter has power and the power light is steady green.
Confirm your home broadband is working on another device.
Check the network cable from the adapter to your router.
Restart the adapter: power off 30 seconds, then on. Wait three minutes.
Dial a full UK mobile number and press send. Silence before dialling can be normal on digital phones.
Turn off SIP ALG in your router if calls still fail.
See Phone not working with your own broadband for more checks.
What success looks like
Your home broadband is online, adapter lights are ready, and you can make and receive calls on your home number.
Common mistakes
- Plugging the phone into a wall socket instead of Phone1 on the adapter.
- Expecting Simple Telecoms to fix your broadband when only the phone service is with us.
- Leaving SIP ALG switched on in the broadband router.
