Fix a phone with no dial tone step by step. For Home2Phone customers. C

Don't worry. When your phone will not work, most causes are loose cables, the phone plugged into the wrong socket, or the box needing a safe restart. Silence when you pick up does not always mean the line is broken on digital service.

Quick answer

Check the Geemarc box is plugged into mains, or the GSM handset is powered on.

Step-by-step checks for no dial tone

  1. Check the Geemarc box is plugged into mains, or the GSM handset is powered on.

  2. Geemarc box: confirm the Wi-Fi or 4G light is lit. The power light flashing alone does not mean it is on.

  3. If the Geemarc box lights are off, turn it on: press and hold the left-side power button until the Wi-Fi or 4G light turns on, then let go.

  4. Confirm your phone is plugged into the Geemarc box phone socket with a handset we supplied, not a wall socket.

  5. Check the antenna is connected on the Geemarc box if your model has one.

  6. Move the Geemarc box nearer a window if signal looks weak.

  7. Restart the equipment: See Reset your phone equipment for Hybrid steps.

  8. Make a short test call.

  9. If still no dial tone, report a fault online and say whether you have the Geemarc box or a GSM handset, and which lights you see.
